Truth is, I'm Tired........

I remember sitting in my car after a long day, not just my work day, but life was kicking my boo-tay.  I had done all the things. Checked the boxes. Smiled the smiles. But inside, I felt like I was sprinting on a treadmill. Moving… but not arriving.

Wooooo Chile.

Isn’t that how life can feel sometimes? Like we’re giving our all and still wondering, “Why am I not further along?” You’re running, sweating, grinding......but the scenery hasn’t changed.

And yet… Even if it feels like you’re not going anywhere, you are building something. Strength. Endurance. Trust. Clarity.

W.E.B. Du Bois coined the phrase double consciousness, the internal conflict of being seen through someone else’s eyes while still trying to honor your own reflection. It’s the dance of duality that many of us know all too well.

We are praised for our strength while suffocating under the weight of being misunderstood. We are soft and sharp, nurturing and strategic, joyful and exhausted.

And here’s the truth: two things can be true at the same time.

You can be grateful and still want more. You can be healing and still hurting. You can be faithful and still full of questions.

That’s not weakness. That’s humanity.

In Black Girl Breathe, I wrote:

“Your breath is your permission slip to be honest, with your heart, your faith, and your process.”

Your emotions are not liabilities; they are blueprints.

When you sit with them, listen to them, and stop judging them, they become maps.

They point toward your purpose. They whisper your passion.

But only if you stop running long enough to listen.
